Being in such close quarters with these guys certainly affords the wonderful opportunity to catch some illness. Whelp, today, I have the crud. I have been coughing up a bunch of nastiness. I am fully vaccinated and quadruple boosted, with the most recent bivariant vaccine by Moderna. I like the RNA manipulation that the Moderna vaccine offers, and will hopefully have my blood magnetized as soon as the government activates it. So in a superstitious way, on this 13th day, I am a bit down, but I was able to make it to the 6:00 am lineup to receive…2, TWO, not just one but 2 rolls of toilet paper for the next two weeks. I’m certain there are no real logic to their algorithm of why two rolls are given rather just an assumption that one toilet paper per week per individual. If you really wanna challenge yourself, see how much TP you go through in a week! Honestly, it is not that bad, but now that I have the sniffles, I am using way more TP to blow my nose…and the commissary store just sold out of toilet paper, so that’s a hot commodity right now. At the store last week, I did purchase some ibuprofen and an off brand cough syrup that actually keeps me from coughing for about two hours. I have just enough cough syrup to make it through tomorrow to buy more (it’s a small bottle for about 4 doses).
In the early afternoon, the person who oversees all the inmates in my unit announced a “townhall” meeting. While seldom held, he just wanted to discuss some new guidelines that the government issued for the application of the First Step Act, which has a prediction that about 100 guys will be eligible for immediate release, which is about 1/4 of the current population here. I alluded to focusing on this issue in the future, which I will still do. Currently, the Second Chance Act is applied to my current sentence of 78 months, so I have a release date of May 25, 2028…a long time from now. However, this calculation is being reconfigured with the First Step Act, which will reduce time even more. The timing of my entry into the federal prison system is fortuitous, providential, and lucky to have such a supportive law implemented.
Today’s entry is a bit shorter since it really was an unproductive day where I spent about half the day in bed just trying to recover from crud. Stay healthy, safe, and don’t forget to get vaccinated/boosted (only if you don’t want the government injecting microchips into your soul)!
