The first full week of the New Year has been rather uneventful, which is not necessarily a bad thing. We’ve had some cold rain, wintery weather. Then, a really nice day in 50s so work replaced a lot of outside lights to take advantage of the spring-like weather…warm weather means a few games of pickleball! Oh, and the sole baby ducking has grown so much in the past week. It is about 2/3 the size of the other ducks. It has been great to see this little creature survive and acclimate to the wintery conditions.
Some really good news: the bass player in the left! It’s fantastic news since he was immediately released to go home and be with his ailing parents. An immediate release means that he was no longer in custody and his prison term was deemed “served”. This phenomenon is known as a compassionate release. If an inmate is a sole provider or caregiver, the court is able to make an extraordinary exception to serving a prison term. In this instance, the guy spent 10 months submitting court documents to prove his case as an extraordinary exception. He had about 2 more years to serve, so this news was quite exciting since a compassionate release really happens (unless there’s an active pandemic).
From the original band, there are only 2 of us left, which is down from the original 7 members. The role of a bassist is key since it helps keep the tempo and rhythm of a song in sync with the drums. Unfortunately, the band has been sounding rather empty, like meat missing from a subway sandwich. The band experience has certainly been interesting, which helps pass the time! So nothing really exceptional happened this week, just back to the same boring days and evenings. May you have a wonderful, healthy week – keep an eye out for a little miracle or two. Thank you for taking the time to read this entry and follow my “college” journey!
