Another week down 🙂 Monday was Labor Day (again), which meant a holiday meal! The meal was no exception like so many before: hamburger, hot dogs, potato salad, mac and cheese, and a cinnamon-streusel (the best part). The same ‘ole routine this week, so I do not have much to report on besides the usual working in the electric department, playing pickleball in the evenings, and reading books/newspapers.
Visits from Drew and my parents capstoned the week! Being able to have a visit or contact with the “outside” world is a true blessing. During the visit with my parents, I was utterly shocked that my father did not mention one thing about Trump! A total shocker! Like so many boomers 😛 he’s impassioned by discussions of Trump and the current state of the Republic and insights garnered from YouTube-aspiring middle-aged basement dwellers living with their parents who have the insider information to DC’s most top secret classified sources. Even another assassination plot foiled on Trump that captivated the media coverage over the weekend; yet, my father did not mention one thing about Trump! This just means the next visit’s political topic will be a doozy!
September’s weather has been nearly perfect: clear, sunny days and crisp, starry nights. All the wild life seems to be calming down in preparation for hibernation or migration. In the past month, I read nearly 20 books: a few were trash, but most were well done and imaginative, like authors C.J. Box and James Rollins. These books temporarily remove me from the confines of the mental prison and distract from the news of politics, wars, killings, natural disasters and violence that seem to constantly be bombarding us. I welcome any recommended readings, no matter the subject or content!
I do hope you had a wonderfully relaxing Labor Day Weekend and are able to enjoy this beautiful weather. Thank you for taking the time to check-in with me and follow my prison journey. Have a fantastic week and continue to look for any little miracle in your daily life 🙂
